Coherent Lasers for Cost Effective Solar Cell Production Coherent lasers deliver the performance necessary to enable demanding solar cell processing applications such as edge isolation, laser-grooved-buried-contacts, laser-fired-contacts, and thin-film-patterning. For example, their high quality output beams produce narrower scribes, allowing edge-isolation processing to be performed closer to the cell edge. Plus, their unique pulsing characteristics result in a minimal heat affected zone. This gives cell manufacturers greater front surface cell area yielding increased cell efficiency, higher wafer utilization, and reduced wafer breakage.
